The Bible makes it clear that the world does not get better prior to Christ’s return, but in fact, it gets worse.  Scripture tells us exactly what to expect.  When writing to Timothy, Paul says the last days will be “difficult” (2 Timothy 3:1). Other translations use the words grievous (ASV), terrible (NIV), and perilous (KJV).  No matter what translation you use, the picture is the same.  We can expect difficult days.

If we recognize we are living in the last days, and if we realize evil is increasing in the earth, then what are we to do as Christians?  There are some who would have a fatalistic attitude.  They would shrug their shoulders and say there is no use, and they would give up on the culture.  As believers, we are not called to isolate from the culture, but are called to engage it.  This means we have to fight for the minds and hearts of this generation.

There is a spiritual battle for the soul of America.  Satan is actively trying to destroy the faith and families of our country.  He is targeting the next generation unlike anything we have ever seen in our lifetime.  While this spiritual war is raging, God has not left us defenseless.  We not only have a Divine Protection; we have Divine weapons for both offense and defense. As we stand our ground, our anthem will be “Blessed be the Lord my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight” (Psalm 144:1, KJV).

On September 23, 1779, the British Navy was overwhelming the American battleships during the Revolutionary War.  Torn and tattered, it did not appear the Americans could win on the high seas.  When the British demanded John Paul Jones to surrender his fleet, he famously yelled, “I have not yet begun to fight.”  This needs to be the attitude of today’s Church.
