In the book of Matthew, Jesus is followed by two blind men who were crying out to him to have mercy on them. When Jesus entered a house, the blind men came before him, hoping to be healed of their blindness. When Jesus saw them, he asked them both a very simple yet so important question. “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” Their answer was a simple “yes, Lord”. After this, Jesus touched their eyes and they were both healed.

When these blind men came to Jesus for healing, they came with the knowledge and faith that Jesus was able to do these things. With no doctors or priests to help them, they turned towards Jesus for healing. They were not hoping that Jesus was able to heal them of their blindness, they KNEW Jesus could heal them. And when they said they believed, Jesus said “According to your faith be it done to you.”

The source of their miracle was Jesus himself, but their faith in Him made the healing power of the King of Kings available to them. We pray and hope for salvation, miracles, healings, etc. yet we do not have faith that Christ is able to do these things. Bear always in mind and heart, child of God, that the Lord who once healed the blind, the sick, the lame and the deaf is still alive today. And this living and breathing Jesus still holds that power over sickness and affliction.

We must have faith in Jesus and believe the tales of His glory and power. As we hold fast to the hope we find in Jesus, we gain access to miracles unlike anything the world has ever seen. The lame can still walk, the blind can still see and the deaf can still hear. We need only have faith in the One who holds power over all these things.
